Why businesses choose it
The CX963 is the fastest of the Xerox 9-Series, the newest A3 colour platform in the Xerox lineup, and it is built for offices and print rooms where the printer never really stops. It runs 55 pages per minute in colour and black and white, it is rated for 7,000 to 50,000 pages a month of everyday work, and the first page is out in as fast as 6 seconds.
Paper handling starts at 700 sheets and builds to 4,750 with the tray options, taking sheets up to 12 by 18 inches and SRA3 for full bleed work. The se build is the base printer you add trays to, and the xse build arrives with the extra 550 sheet drawer and the 2,000 sheet tandem tray already fitted, which is the configuration we keep on hand.
Underneath, it carries a 300 sheet single pass feeder that scans both sides of a page in one pass at up to 240 images per minute, a 10.1 inch touchscreen, and a duty cycle of up to 270,000 pages a month. Security on this platform is current rather than carried over, including post quantum cryptography, which matters on a device that holds scanned documents.
Configure it to the work
Two builds start the conversation. The se is the base printer, with two 550 sheet trays and the 150 sheet multipurpose feeder, and you add to it as the work grows. The xse arrives loaded, with the extra drawer and the 2,000 sheet tandem tray already fitted, so it is ready for long unattended runs the day it lands.
Paper in. A 550 sheet tray, a 2 x 550 sheet tray, a 2,000 sheet tandem tray, a 1,500 sheet high capacity tray, and a special media tray for heavier or coated stock. Built all the way up, the CX963 holds 4,750 sheets at once, so Letter, Legal and 11 by 17 can all stay loaded.
Paper out. The 500 sheet output bin is standard. From there you can add an offset stacker to keep jobs apart, a 500 sheet staple finisher, a 1,250 sheet staple finisher with 2 or 3 hole punch, or the 2,250 sheet booklet finisher that staples, punches and saddle stitches finished sets.
Folding without a finisher. The folding paper transport is the option most people do not know exists. It half folds, letter folds and Z folds up to three sheets on the way out of the printer, and it does that with no stapling finisher attached. If you fold newsletters, statements or mailers but never staple them, this is the piece that fits, and it costs a fraction of a booklet maker.
Underneath. A cabinet or the tray hardware lifts the printer to working height, keeps supplies to hand, and gives the finishing options something to mount to.
